New Rules for Minor Sprains and Strains - They only need PEACE & LOVE

How do you help yourself with minor injuries?😃 Do you rest it or just try to “walk it off”?

In a recent Facebook Live video, I talked about the new way that studies are saying we should go about handling and healing our minor injuries.

Should we still ice, compress, and elevate minor injuries? After all, this is what we’ve been trained and told to do by many doctors or physical therapists throughout the years. I explain why we shouldn’t do that anymore and what changed to bring this new development.

I also share information about the new clinic I have started in my office in Santa Rosa and how it plays a big role in healing injuries safely and quickly. Make sure you keep watching this video until the end.😃🙌

Key things to remember:

  • P = Protect your injury by avoiding painful movements.
  • E = Elevate your injured limb above your heart and as much as possible.
  • A = Avoid taking anti-inflammatories.
  • C = Compress your injured limb with elastic bandages or taping to reduce swelling.
  • E = Educate, to learn the right movements and to avoid unnecessary things like ice.
  • L =  Load the injured limb with exercise to help improve blood circulation and strengthen the ligaments for fast healing results.
  • O = Optimism about your healing leads to positive results.
  • V = Vascularization by doing cardio exercises to improve blood circulation to your injured limb.
  • E = Exercise within reason that will keep you strong and support the strength of your muscles after an injury.
